Yay for me!

Yay for me!

We just ordered a DSL account! I’m giddy. I feel like a little kid. I’m going to check every day to see if the install kit is here yet. ^_^

Comments: Yay for me!

I would like to take this time to demonstrate the newest feature of mintchaos.com. Ahem: Christian, in response to your post, Wejustordereda DSLaccount! I’mgiddy. Ifeellikealittlekid. I’mgoingtocheck everydaytoseeif theinstallkitis hereyet. _, I must say, I’m delighted to see you join the fat-pipe bandwagon.

Actuallythisbugdoesn’t showupinIEMac5.1. IEMacautomatically wrapsbydefault, even ifyoudontspecifya wrappingproperty foryourelement. Wootforplatformin consistancies.

it seems there is no easy fix for this word word wrapping problem. forced work breaking doesn’t look like it will be here before css3 happens in full force. any helpfull ideas?

One easy enough thing to do would be to modify your Movabletype to, when displaying comments (perhaps only with a new optional parameter), insert some invisible ‘breakable’ markup, such as a <span></span> every so many characters.

Oh yeah, one other easier thing you could do is to use or . Yer old UNICODE-friendly soft hyphen. Only problem with him is that many older (and some newer, goofier, Mozilla) browsers/web devices will ALWAYS render the hyphen. And/or not break lines along the soft hyphens.

So, as always, you can choose between an ugly presentation hack, or a, uh, standards-based ugly presentational hack. _

thanks, both of those ideas are nicer looking than insterting actual spaces.

There is some problem with both and &173; when using (non-latin only) Unicode characters processed with Java on the server side. It spoils the character befere and after the soft hyphen because of variable character length. Any ideas for solution? Please write to my email
