Yesterday I wore kimono for the first time. It was a real treat of an experience, and I am thankful to my friend Sayo for taking the time to get me properly dressed and take me to a tea ceremony. Thanks to Craig too for coming to take pictures in the middle of a nasty, rainy day. Thanks to our new digicam, I can upload the pics right away...enjoy!

I got to watch a friend and her mother getting dressed up in their kimono for a wedding last year. Took forever, but it was a real treat. Like you, I had my digital camera with me
Thanks for the comments... no it wasn't a package deal - my friend has been trying to get me in kimono for quite a while actually, it was just a matter of finding the time. a few more interesting comments too - I shouldn't actually be wearing that kimono because it is furisou (long-sleeved) which is meant only for young, unmarried women (I'm young, but not unmarried!). Also, the obi was the same one that my friend (who is over 60) wore at her own wedding over 30 years ago. The kimono itself is over 20 years old, worn by her niece for her coming of age day. Quite a history in the outfit.
