Below the floor of the Coliseum - chambers for storing animals and humans. They had a nifty "elevator" system to bring people/animals up from below - if you haven't seen Gladiator, check it out!! It shows how this system worked.

Even the remains are still magnificent and beautiful. Look closely- you can see the Coliseum standing tall in the back.
